Get Ready Reality TV Fans! 2009 Fall Season Is Full Of Promise
posted August 23, 2009 - 7:55pmThe end of summer is counting down and, if you are anything like me, you are not unhappy. The soon-to-be colorful trees, football, and the start of the new season of television are right around the corner and, if you are a Reality TV fan like myself, you've already gotten a taste of the new season.
The 2009 Fall Reality TV season is in progress as we sit and breathe. Big Brother is down to 6 houseguests, as Chima was evicted (due to breaking house rules) and recently Lydia was voted out. The 2 hour season finale is scheduled for Tuesday September 15, and we will all learn who wins the half million dollars.
Hell's Kitchen has also been in full force since July, with Chef Gordon Ramsay getting called all sorts of names in Week 1, a first for this show! Of course, Chef Ramsay doesn't tolerate this at all and it was bye bye to the most stupid contestant ever. There are still 10 chefs left and the winner will become Head Chef at Araxi Restaurant in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, just in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver!
This past week we got to see the premieres of two of my favorites, Top Chef: Las Vegas and Project Runway. Top Chef is broadcast on Bravo on Wednesday nights and this time it's set in Las Vegas. We have already gotten to see the theme of gambling involved this season as the chefs each had to pull a colored poker chip out of a hat to determine what team they would be on. It's still the same judges with Tom Coliccchio and Gail Simmons as the food experts and Padma Lakshmi as the beautiful hostess and judge. Project Runway is being broadcast on Thursday nights on Lifetime for the first time and is set in Los Angeles, another first. Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, and Michael Kors are still with us!
You better set your DVR's the night of Wednesday September 9 for the premieres of two more reality staples. America's Next Top Model Cycle 13, shown on the CW network, promises to unveil a twist, a first for this show. Usually the contestants must be at least 5'7". This cycle, they can be no TALLER than 5'7". Let's see if less is more as the new cycle gets underway on that night. As usual, Tyra Banks will be hosting. Also on this night, So You Think You Can Dance will be premiering. The show has always been shown only during the summer but the popularity of the show has made it a must for the Fall. SYTYCD is shown on FOX, most likely 2 nights a week.
The end of Big Brother usually signals the beginning of Survivor and this year is no different. Survivor: Samoa, the 19th season, will premiere on Thursday September 17 on CBS. The rumor on the net is that the 20th season, to be aired next February, will actually be filmed right after this season, also in Samoa, and will be another All-Star edition. We'll keep you posted as usual!
Dancing With The Stars starts up on Monday September 21 on ABC. The celebrity dancers were recently announced and they are: Kelly Osbourne, Aaron Carter, Louie Vito, Michael Irvin, Natalie Coughlin, Macy Gray, Tom DeLay, Kathy Ireland, Donny Osmond, Mya, Chuck Liddell, Debi Mazar, Ashley Hamilton, Mark Dacascos, Melissa Joan Hart, and Joanna Krupa. Professional dancer Julianne Hough will be taking a break this season to work on her music career. I'm sure she will be missed.
My final favorite reality show, Amazing Race, will be premiering on Sunday September 27 on CBS. As usual, teams of two will race across the globe hoping to be the last team standing. This team will win a million dollars. This show is a favorite among people that love to travel as it shows so many different beautiful places and also gives a little insight into different cultures. Since this is my favorite show, I will leave you with a picture of me with one of my least favorite contestants ever: Luke, of Margie and Luke from last season. I had the opportunity to meet him this summer. Little did he know I was not a fan. Anyway, enjoy!
