Get Rich Tip - Be Generous

Get rich by giving money away.

Have you heard this one? I have actually read in two places from two different writers that this is a good way to attain wealth.

The idea behind this is that the more you give, the more you get. This sounds like kindergarten right? And in some sense it is that simple.

Political elections are won because the candidates spread money around.

Business deals are successful when all parties involved profit.

Generous people have more friends--it is a fact. The more you give the more you get. That's not to say that you should give away all of your money, or even most of it--to be rich you need to have smart, sound investments--but earmarking a small portion to go to a charity might be a good idea.

Money is power--only when it is spent.

This is interesting and most people don't think about money in these terms.

I guess the first thing I need to do is get my hands on some money. Then I can start giving.

Air It Out

It is a mistake to think of money as something you can ever "have." I relate it to The Force (of course--being a big fan of mythology, much like Joseph Campbell and his paduwon George Lucas ... not to mention the big-name-dropper I am--I tend to relate a lot of things to 'The Force'). Jedi's, Masters of The Force, never said anything about "having" or "taking" The Force (but for the "powers" one had when using it). Money is much like The Force in that way. If you know how to use it, you never touch it. If they who are using it favor you, the money will be worked for you; if they don't like you, you won't like what the money does to you. I especially relate to the last line!

I'm always telling myself that I'll give the money away once I get it. The principal you're talking about is biblically based. You can find it by reading about the parable of the talents. The person who buried the talent did not gain anything. I have so wanted to give to charity, because my heart seems to sway that way. Then a little voice makes me fear what will happen if I later need that money that I just gave away. I like what someone close to me said about this issue. She said that God looks upon people, as far as giving goes, like they're a river. Is he going to give more to the stream or to the rapids? I am guessing the rapids, because the wealth spreads to more people quicker that way. Then again, that voice in my head is saying that people that are rapids already had that money to begin with. I guess it's a never ending cycle with me: give to get? No I might need it later; but if I give it away it will come back to me 10 fold, shaken over... We must have faith. It's so hard, I know.
