Getting a Tattoo
posted December 3, 2008 - 11:28amA lot of people have already done it. Paid someone to sick needles with ink into your skin to create simple drawings or elaborate designs. Some of them are well thought out, and others are just horrid. The latter make me wonder what was ever going through that person's head at the time. Some of them are really bad.
What I'm trying to say here is that if you decide that you want to permanently scar yourself with ink, then take a few moments, or days, or preferably a couple months or more to think about it. This is going to be on your skin forever, you don't want to choose something that you will regret or get tired of at any point in your life.
Think about it. That elaborate tribal face mask might sound cool in theory, but what happens when you wake up the next morning and look in the mirror? Or when you walk into an important job interview? Needless to say something a little more conspicuous would probably work better in your favor.
Don't get me wrong, I have a couple small pieces planned. Including an infinity symbol on the inside of my right arm, and a Celtic cross on the outside of my left leg. But the difference is that I put a lot of thought into both of these small pieces. For the cross, I've had it as my background, put it in my wallet and carried it around in my locker and binder when I was in high school. It's something I saw everywhere and after 3 months, I still wanted it just as much and knew that I would still feel the same way with it on my skin. Bot of my future tattoos have a special meaning to me. Such as the infinity symbol going on my arm that symbolizes 3 things. My graduation year (o8) my best friend's and I's unending friendship (they are all getting individualized ones) and my relationship with my best friend and partner. And I would never go so far as to put someones initials or name onto my arm, but I've designed the figure eight so that it resembles an 's' in a subtle way.
Final note, just think before doing, thats all I'm saying. Too many people make horrible mistakes that are almost impossible to erase.
