The world is changing.  Scientists now believe that a rift that developed in Ethiopia could eventually lead to the creation of another ocean.  When the rift first opened in 2005, it was speculated that another ocean could someday form in this region, but scientists lacked the data to back the theory up.  This article explains the studies conducted that conclude that this is a definite possibility.  This is creating a bit of excitement in the scientific community, as it provides a way to study processes that have been previously restricted by location.
