" In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. "
As you state, the house has 20 rooms, so why would it be surprising that it uses much more juice than the average home? Also this article doesn't note the claim Gore makes that he buys some of his energy from renewable sources to reduce his carbon footprint.
A much bigger logical hole in this argument is that it doesn't compare how the homes, and properties, may be used. Maybe Gore has employees who work in his mansion? That would greatly increase the energy use, since you'd potentially have people using computers, copy machines, etc. 8 hours a day or more.
The article also compares the Bush house without saying anything about the energy use of his whole complex--the Bushes own a whole ranch, after all. How much pollution does his fertilizer produce? How many outbuildings are on the complex? Is the Bush ranch actually producing any salable or usable products, or it is just a big, expensive, energy-consuming, and polluting hobby?
Without knowing these and many other factors, this comparison is pretty much useless.

I couldn't agree more strongly!

Speaking of "illegal war[s] in Iraq"...
I just posted an article about the Iraq War yesterday. The name of it is, Why We Are In Iraq. You should check it out.
About the two houses...that's been known for quite some time now. I believe the story was originally run a few years ago in the Chicago Tribune - or some other Chicago paper perhaps. It was not surprising to see that Al Gore is a hypocrit. After all, he is a Democrat.

Think about the permanent damage Bush and his illegal war in Iraq has done to the environment--depleted uranium, too. It isn't enough to say that Bush is in bed with Big Oil--he is Big Oil's, um, *insert synonym for female dog here*. Then, once he is out of office, he will no doubt want to write his memoirs and kill some trees for no good reason, since his understanding of his true character is about as accurate as his claim of an Iraq-Al Qaeda link.
