Gnosis (the Power of Revelation) and Our Uncle-which-Art-in-Heaven
posted August 1, 2007 - 11:40pmThinking about who I've always wanted to be, I've come lately to settle on Uncle. Yes; I've always wanted to be like Patrick Determan, my uncle/Godfather.
But it wasn't because 'he was my mother's brother' that I wanted to be like him, not originally. Originally, he was 'my cousins' father' to me ... something along the lines of 'proof that my power emanates from something beyond my father, my grandfather or any direct family line.'
Pope Benedict wants to put God in a tiny box at the end of a long, dark, flammable tunnel. My God is not constrained to such a box—the only things constrained are the people who think they have to lock themselves in there to find Him.
Benedict wants only the people who have been given The Special Handshake by the Special Apostles to be the ones leading his church. That's like only hiring doctors that the Surgeon General has personally recommended to you.
But he is the Pope; 'I didn't vote for him, but he's the leader of my church!' Or is he? let's examine this for a second: "Church" - "denomination" - "organization united in adherence to beliefs and values" I suppose Benedict is the leader of his church, but–rejecting his "Catholicism is the only way to God"-belief–our churches seperate.
But in the document I link to, he's saying that 'no church but the Catholic church is Christian.' I disagree there; Christ's "Holy" is an idea seperate from "Rome," "Church," and even (in the context of 'rome' and 'church') "Holiness." Christ's Holiness runs on many different frequencies, while 'Holy' Roman Catholicism runs on only one—the one that interprets, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me," into 'You are banished to the Outer Void if you have not experienced The Special Handshake.'
I have experienced many Special Handshakes, and I can go from each of them to God ... true, not all of them are 'signs that I know the way to God'; but none of them make God's purpose for me any less-achievable! If Our Father won't help me, I'll go to Our Uncle.
In that last statement, be sure that I'm talking in terms of spiritual metaphor. (not 'people we go to'-metaphor). In spiritual reality, Our Father is (faintly at first, but more-and-more as life goes on) The Spirit within ourselves. Our Uncle (putting it briefly) is the Goodness of Our Connections-list.
You could call that Goodness "Our Family Love." Thus completing a New 'Trinity': The Uncle, Our Cousins, and The Family Love
