Shaving has not received as much 'green' attention as other bathroom rituals have. By now we know to turn off the water at the faucet while brushing our teeth, take shorter showers or install a water saving shower head, we also know about eco-friendly low flush toilets and to unplug any electrical hair styling appliance when it's not in use.
But we've nothing or very little about how to be eco-friendly and go green with our shaving ritual. So here are some eco-friendly shaving tips for a great shave and healthier environment.
If possible, use an electric razor instead of disposable plastic razors. An electric razor does use electricity, but leaves a smaller environmental footprint that the tons of disposable plastic razors in landfills.
If an electric razor just won't provide you with the close shave you want, then choose a disposable razor made from recycled plastic and recycle your razor again when you are finished with it.
Take the cue from your tooth brushing ritual and turn the water faucet off while you shave. Fill the bathroom sink with water and use it to dip your razor in while you shave to remove the shave cream.
Speaking of shave cream, go green with your choice and by pass the aerosol can shave foam products and choose the shave creams in non-aerosol dispensers.
