Google has a new project that is in beta stages.
The name of the project is "Knol" or "units of knowlege".

knols contributors will write reference pages on any topic and those pages will be displayed in google search results.

This is similar to an encyclopedia covering a wide range of topics. google knol is currently in the testing phase and for now using it is by invitation only.

There are already many tools such as wikipedia, but google knols is different in the sense that it will have the experts writing articles.

google knols project will have a monetizing feature and the articles will be rateable. is this yet another option for making money with google ? there is already adsense which is quite popular for making money.

However, knols is a google project whose primary aim is to encourage authors. Each article will have the author's names on the cover, bylines etc.

once the phase of testing is finished, participation in google knols project will be completely open.
