Google LOVES Xomba
posted October 12, 2009 - 8:06amIt’s not official but it stands to reason that Google LOVES Xomba!
We could write 4,000 words on this topic and its central and simple claim but have instead elected to shove its essence into this
short article and ask its readers to indulge in some role play.
- Imagine you are a marketing executive with a budget which must be spent on advertising in one of two magazines.
OPTION 1
You could spend £1,800 on a prominent full page in a glossy magazine. The magazine has a 125,000 distribution and it is given free to travellers at a UK airport or sent to private addresses of people who have requested it. The magazine contains travel related articles, information, competitions and special offers. You won’t know how many people actually glance or look at your advert. You won’t know how many have shown any interest in it at all. If you have point of sales information gathering set up and it is diligently followed, you might be able to discover what sales the advert has achieved…might. This magazine has about 100 pages and appeals to a very narrow interest group.
OPTION 2
You could spend £1,800 on advertising with a different sort of magazine. Your advert could get in front of millions of people and – if you know what you’re doing (or your agency does) you would only pay 14p each time one of those millions of people was actually interested in the product, service or message of your advert. Only when 125,000 people had looked at your advert would £1,750 of your £1,800 be spent. What is more, you would know exactly how many people saw your advert and didn’t show interest in it and how many people who did show interest went on to buy or other actions. This magazine has an infinite number of pages – more are added all the time – and the widest choice of articles you can imagine which appeal to extensive and diverse interest groups.
Xomba is the OPTION 2. Xomba can be seen as an online magazine. Its readers ONLY read what is of interest to them. If these readers are interested in the products, services or messages advertised unobtrusively alongside them they will click that advert – otherwise they won’t.
Xomba articles give space to advertisers who love relevant content and Google loves Xomba for doing that!

My Pleasure
I hope it will inspire others. They should join Xomba and/or buy Google ads... If they want to waste money (you never know) they should buy magazine advertising...
