Google Manipulator -The First FULL Review of Google Manipulator
posted June 25, 2008 - 5:38pmEvery time I am given one of these eBooks to review I am always trying to figure out exactly what separate them from the rest of the pack. Google Manipulatorwas no exception. I had a look at the website which at the moment is just an opt-in for and a bold headline reading: “27-Year-Old College DropOut Makes $50K Per Month With Free Google Search Traffic And On June 26th He Is Going To Reveal Exactly How He Does It! ”. Yup, your standard run-of-the-mill attention grabbing claims. Yes, that is indeed a bit an oxymoronic statement but unfortunately the online marketplace is such that any Tom, Dick or Pawel can launch a product and make big bold claims. Thankfully there is a community spirit that comes with the internet and shysters are quickly found out. Okay then with that out of the way, how about a review?
The first thing I noticed about Google Manipulator is that it makes the initial assumption that you are a complete novice to Search Engine Optimisation; this is good if you are indeed new to this. However if you consider yourself experienced or even an expert then I would recommend you skip to chapter 6. The author has clearly created this book for a dual market. The beginners start, well, at the beginning and are taught in a step by step fashion that experienced webmasters may find patronising. The experienced reader may start from the mid way point by which time the author has stopped holding your hand and you are walking along side him as he explains to you in painful detail exactly how he achieved those headline making figures.

This is a book on SEO, it is not a get-rich-quick system or anything of the sort, and to my knowledge the author has not billed it as such. What this book does is show the reader exactly how certain sites manage to appear on Google’s first page, Google Manipulator provides a cross section so you can see the inner workings of these successful webmasters. An interesting point that the author makes is that in order to best replicate another person’s results we must first replicate their methods. What I most enjoyed about this book was the fact that it doesn’t leave you dependant on the “next fix” by the end, you are just free to take action. My advice to anyone reading this that usually has trouble finishing books [although Google Manipulator isn't exactly "War and Peace"] is that you read it whilst at your computer and you follow along with the instructions. I found this book works best when read that way as you get continual encouragement as you see your site travel up the Google rankings.
Finally I would say that although Google Manipulator does not deliver much that is groundbreaking in terms of innovative marketing it is a book that lives up to its promises. It does indeed show you exactly how to get your sites ranked on the first page of Google and does so with ease. Most of the ideas contained in this book are well known to most SEO “experts” but from chapter 6 onwards there are some advanced and even “blackhat” techniques that are taught, and these are not what you would call public knowledge.
