A Great Film Noir: D.O.A. (1950)
Edmond O'Brien is Frank Bigelow, who one night enters a police station and asks the cops to solve a murder.Who's been murdered? Well, Frank Bigelow has!
This is how D.O.A. - Dead On Arrival - begins. You see, Frank has found out he's been poisoned and only has a day or so to live. He doesn't know who poisoned him. He doesn't know why somebody wants to see him dead. So, in a flashback spanning 95% of the movie, Frank is trying to solve the murder of himself.
This film, directed by Rudolph Maté, is one of the absolutely greatest film noir classics. It's tough, it's dark, it's thrilling, it's well acted, it's good looking, it has an interesting, weird story.
You've absolutely no reason not to watch this movie! This is truly a must-see!
D.O.A. was remade in 1988, but that version was inferior to the original. And whatever you do, don't mix this movie up with the martial arts flick D.O.A. - DEAD OR ALIVE!
D.O.A. is in public domain, meaning it can be downloaded and watched legally and free. Click the link below for a site where you can stream it.
