Green, green my house: Maintenance of indoor plants

Almost nothing can transform the atmosphere of a room as dramatically as indoor plants. They have the power to inject color and life into any interior, even in those “dead” corners!

Maintenance is the key
In the hot, dry summer, spray your plants twice a day so that the leaves do not get dehydrated. Water plants every time the soil turns dry, which may be once in two or three days in summer, and once in eight days in winter. Try to place plants in a well lit area. And do not shift them around too much- they don’t like to be moved often.

If you must a place a plant in a shady area, choose two plants for it. This will allow the plants to be interchanged for sunning without moving them too often.

Fertilize once or at most twice a year, but only during the growing period, -normally around the monsoon or in spring. Never fertilize during the plants dormant period, when it is either too hot or too cold for it to grow.

Leaves should be cleaned once a week with plain water. Dust should not accumulate on the leaves since it prevents them from breathing and renders them dull and lifeless.
