Green Tea Can Bring Dying Brain Cells Back To Life
posted February 4, 2008 - 12:17pmIsraeli researchers have found a chemical in green tea actually revives dying neurons in animal brains.
The chemical is EGOG, epigallocatechin gallate, which is the main antioxidant in green tea.
EGOG was found to bring back to life dying neurons resembling those killed by Parkinson's disease. Adding EGOG
made the dying cells bounce back to life, the cells became healthier and grew new dendrites. (Nerve appendages that carry messages from cell to cell)
Studies have shown that EGOG is safe in high doses, however the Israeli researches recommend drinking no more than 5 to 6 cups of green tea daiy.
Just another great reason to drink green tea.
