How to Grow Organic Strawberries in Strawberry Pots

Would you like to learn how to grow strawberries in strawberry pots? It's quite simple and can be done as a part of an indoor or outdoor gardening plan. Here's what you'll need:

-strawberry pot
-organic soil
-straw
-organic strawberry plugs
-pvc pipe
-gravel
-netting (optional)

Here's what to do:

1. Fill the strawberry pot with enough soil to reach to the bottom of the first opening on the pot. If you're using a terra cotta pot, you'll need to soak it in water for 30 minutes before you start planting your organic strawberries.

2. Place organic strawberry plugs in the pot openings so that the crown (the top of the roots) is just covered with soil.

3. Place the pvc pipe in the middle of the pot. Fill the pipe with gravel. This will help your watering efforts by allowing the moisture to penetrate deep into the strawberry pot. Strawberries in a pot get very dry, especially for a small pot.

4. Fill in soil around the pot up to the next opening. Then insert the organic plugs into the holes.

5. Fill in the pot with remaining soil until you only have about three inches left at the top. Plant 3 more strawberry plugs in the top of the pot.

6. Water thoroughly and cover with straw to keep the moisture in.

7. Place the pots indoors or outdoors where they can get at least six hours of full sun every day.

Tips:

A. Use the netting to keep birds from eating your strawberries if you place them outdoors.

B. Pick the white flowers off the plant so it can focus its energy on establishing roots and fruit.

C. Pick the strawberries as soon as they're red. They'll rot if you leave them on the vine.
