Haiku Is Lovely
posted September 30, 2009 - 12:45amI love haiku! I feel that it is actually a bit easier to invent a haiku poem than come up with a freestyle poem because of the limitations. The syllables have to be correct, so there are only so many ways you can say something. I think nbsp;that those limitations often produce a more poignant and often more beautiful way to say something.
The fonts and colors are all wonky, I know, but each different haiku or group of haikus is separated by the lines.
Petty Annoyances
Cars stream like fishes
Blue and white dorsal fin lights
Police prowl like sharks
Big ugly cockroach
I detest your many legs
Die under my shoe!
Valentine’s Day probe
Corporate candy is king
Why do we submit?

Haiku Quartet
Wings alight upon
Lilting lilies in rainbow
Violin trio
Staccato notes of
Macabre ghosts and demons
Organ is master
Like wind through the reeds
Careless and light, airy flight
The flute trills for thee
Oboe tones of tears
Play a solo for me, dear
Butter for the soul

Fur of sleekest black
Eyes like a verdant forest
Merlin stalks his prey

Freedom is like rain
Falling in an endless drought
When will the clouds come?

Freeing, it must be
The stars are as your ceiling
The bee is dying
The wind blows, and the leaves sag.
Look back, the bee’s dead.
