Hairspray for Stain Removal and other Handy Hints

I love learning new things, gaining new knowledge and finding our useful information that can be helpful, not only to myself, but to others as well.
Whether it is something that can be used day to day in the home or just a general information 'heads up'.
For example, did you know that hairspray can be used for more than just hair? - Yes indeed! Hairspray can be used to get rid of static on clothing, and, sprayed on ink stains before laundering works better than shout or spray 'n' wash.
While I'm on the topic of laundry, lemon juice works well on clothing that may have rust stains - (not the kind that the men of steel have in their shorts, tsk, tsk)-
Out of hairspray and have a hot date? A mixture of sugar and water - about 50/50 (use warm water to dissolve the sugar) will keep your hair in place - that won't work on the ink stain though.
Has your dog met the wrong end of a skunk? Everybody has heard of the tomato juice remedy, that works okay but vanilla works well too, and your dog doesn't end up orange and smelling like a bloody mary. A quick word of advice, don't let the dog in the house right after he has been sprayed or he will roll all over the place, trying to get the spray off on your carpets and furniture, then you have a big stinker on your hands.
Does your pet shed so much you are constantly chasing fur tumbleweeds around the house? A 1/2 to one teaspoon of vegetable oil in the food each day may help with that. If your dog is overweight you might just want to do this once a week instead of adding extra calories each day. It will also put a nice shine on the coat as well.
Using a dryer sheet or a slightly damp cloth to wipe the furniture with will help pull the fur up - the dryer sheet will make your furniture smell nice and take care of any static build up.
There are so many simple ways to make use of the everyday products you already have, ya just gotta know.
