Halloween Computer Games for Families and Kids
posted October 8, 2009 - 4:37pmIt's nearly Halloween again, and time to dust off those costumes. Is it just me, or has the holiday gotten a lot less fun over the years? Practically no one trick-or-treats anymore, since it seems like fear of monsters has been replaced by fear of creepy neighbors and curfews.
Well, there's still Halloween parties, scary movies, ghost stories, and spooky games. Below are a few not-so-scary (and budget friendly) Halloween games that are suitable for older kids and families to share.

Neroli's Comments: Fishdom – Spooky Splash is a match 3 game that also has you decorating fish tanks. The tank décor and matching tiles include pumpkins and ghosts, but there isn't much to be scared about. It's challenging enough for adults, and older kids should be able to play, too.

Neroli's Comments: Costume Chaos is a time management game. It sends you scurrying to find costumes for pirates, vampires, and kings. The game play is light-hearted, but the pace is fast. It's suitable for older kids and adults.

Neroli's Comments: Dracula Twins is a 3D platformer game, kind of like Mario Brothers. You play as brother and sister child vampires who must run through many obstacles. The graphics and plot are funny, and it's not too difficult or dark, so the kids should have no trouble playing.

Neroli's Comments: Plants vs. Zombies is hilarious. It has you fending off zombies with gardening equipment. Be warned, it does have a lot of animated cartoon violence, so use your own judgment on whether it's suitable for your kids.

Neroli's Comments: Daycare Nightmare has you playing as a daycare attendant...for monsters. It's a time management game, and very fast paced, so it's for older kids and adults. The story is lots of fun. There's a sequel, but I think the first is better.

Neroli's Comments: This hidden object game is sort of educational, and has you in pursuit of historical monsters. It's a bit story heavy for younger kids, but it might be a good one to play together with an adult.

Happy Halloween!

Thanks for pointing these out. Great informative article.
Good idea!
It's a good idea to give kids and adults some ideas of what they can do for a Halloween party that's out of the ordinary. Especially with tweens who are in that inbetween stage, not quite old enough for a Halloween dance, and too young for a pinata, and trick or treat.
You know what's another good idea audio ghost story books. For all your Halloween party supply needs click on The Happy Halloween Store.
