(Apologies for that random, obnoxious code there at the start.....any help on that?.....)
Okay, I have to share this with y'all. Whether you're into movies or not, whether you like playing video games or not; there's no way you can deny the awesomeness that these trailers are.
Before directing the latest Hollywood sci-fi movie District 9, Neill Blomkamp was supposed to direct a movie version of the video game Halo. However, the producers misunderstood and thought that Peter Jackson was to direct it and when they found out that he was only going to be a producer and that Neill Blomkamp was a new comer; they instantly pulled the plug on the project. Apparently they had no faith in Mr Blomkamp's abilities. I bet they're kicking themselves now, what with District 9 being pretty damned good an' all.
In case, you don't play video games, Halo is a cult classic originally available on the PC and later spreading to other platforms; -
Halo 1
Halo 2
The 'He' they refer to in that trailer for Halo 2 there is Master Chief. He is a badass; - the last of a breed of super-soldiers called Spartans and apparently he is our last hope. We never actually get to see Mr Chief's face but that doesn't stop girls and guys alike from worshipping him as an icon of the video game universe.
Halo 3
Yeah! Go, Master Chief! Woo...ahem, anyway....
In every game the graphics just got better and better, the Halo universe got more detailed and the fans more dedicated. And so, when this teaser project from Neil Blomkamp surfaced, most of us Halo fans got very happy in our pants; - it proved that a movie version was possible and that it could be done without incurring the wrath of the fans, which is the biggest problem when it comes to media conversions.
Anyways, watch this short film by Mr Blomkamp and tell me that it was just for him to be blocked from directing a full length movie of Halo. In my opinion, that decision was almost blasphemy; - there's no one else I can think of that would have done a better job.
Neil Blomkamp's Halo
This snippet of a movie picks up where the end of Halo 2 left off; - to summarize, Master Chief has no way to be transported from his Orbital Drop Ship to the planet and so decides to just jump (something to do with luck and his awesome Spartan suit). The ground team's job is to clear the area and make it safe for his landing. That big fiery ball in the sky is the chief entering the atmosphere. If you're a Halo fan, you'll have goose-bumps all over your arms right now.
However, what I really wanted to share with y’all is this; - a live-action trailer for the new Halo Game – Halo ODST (Orbital Drop Ship troopers); -
