The Hamster Came Home Itself!
posted October 24, 2008 - 7:56amI thought you'd all like to know; - I didn't want y'all to worry.
So after the firefighters and special care unit "left it in the hands of the SSPCA", little hamster lost was still not found.
The firemen had spent 5 hours searching for the wee beastie in the kitchen during which, they dismantled the oven and its pipes; they got out the high tech gadgetry, ie a small camera covered in chocolate; and....and they tried covering the end of a hoover with a sock in the hopes of, well...using suction to drag the tiny monster away from freedom. These were all failed attempts and in the end, they left it up to the SSPCA (Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
The SSPCA told the hamster's family to stop leaving food out for it with the hope of starving it out of its hole. If that took longer than a week, the family were advised to connect a loudspeaker next to the hole and play Celine Dion records at full volume until the beastie had had enough. (No, not really).
The food thing worked, however, and on the morning of this Thursday, Fudgie (our protagonist) had made his way back to his cage and was found snuggled up inside with his hunger satiated.
Just goes to show that;
a) the emergency services should never be called for a lost hamster - are ye trying to destroy the economy?
and
b) never stage a revolution until you've got lunch sorted.
