Nowadays, plastic may rule, but when I was a kid Hanging Porch Swings were king! I grew up in Michigan, you see, and having nice all season playgrounds was important. Hanging Porch Swings were the only time that you could use in winter as well as summer. They do not have a lot of metal pieces (aside from the swing chain), which means you do not have to worry about your fingers getting stuck to them. Plastic swing sets get too slippery and brittle in the snow and ice, and metal ones are dangerous, but kids wooden swing sets could be climbed on safely all year.

Just the other day, I went out and got a wooden hanging porch swing. At first, I had wanted to design and build wooden swing sets for her. You see, I love working with my hands, and it seemed like just the perfect opportunity to build a new project. The problem was that once I started talking about the wooden swing set, she was hooked. She wanted it now, or at least as soon as possible. I decided that I would let her help me pick out which of the wooden swing sets we would get.
