I have found it impossible to find a job in Massachusetts

I have found it impossible to find a job in Massachusetts

I do not know how many of you live in my glorious state of Massachusetts, but it is all of impossible to find a job these days. Now I know everywhere is the same, but I didn't think it would be so difficult given I have a solid work history. I was a lab tech for 8 years. I had to give up my job for my children, which I don't regret at all because it has allowed me to be with them like I would prefer. But unless you can make money from home or have a husband or wife to cover that aspect for you, it is just incredibly hard to survive without a job.

I have always wanted to be a stay at home mom but my only reward is the love I get from my children. I have a 13 year old son who tells me everyday how much he loves me and how he missed me just being at school. And my five year old daughter, who we almost lost more than once, is just such a doll and a beautiful addition to my life.

So I am, once again, looking to earn a living at home. I don't even mind some suggestions from others, as long as what you may tell me about costs nothing to start. If you haven't read my other articles, then I will tell you here that I do not believe in paying someone to work for them. A business opportunity is not something I am looking for. I want something legitimate and not all out time consuming. If I could just make a few hundred a week right now I would actually be happy. I don't ask for much.

I know times are tough and the job offers are at a low that I have never seen before. I like posting, but I will be honest, I haven't been able to post like I had hoped in the beginning. I am going to do more but a lot has gone on and the economy has created problems outside of just the job search.

So for all of you who are feeling the strain, I can definitely say I sympathize with you and wish you the best. Money is something we all need no matter what they say.

Ever consider relocating?

Many people get stuck in a rut, but refuse to relocate for one reason or another. Your job may not be in Massachusetts..it may be in the Dallas/Fort Worth area or mayhaps Indiana...Both very nice places to live with good schools and low cost of living. Suggestions: 1. Keep up with Xomba (it's not get rich quick, but it WILL help if you keep at it). 2. If you think you could establish your own business selling cellular plans, internet service, gigabit ethernet to Businesses and many more products and services for residential and businesses. try Riveroffers. It's free to join, you get your own website and they even offer some training. It just takes some effort. Worth looking into if you think you can make it work for you. 3. Get your resume out there! WAY out there..make sure employers know you are willing to relocate! Xombytes

Great suggestions.

Thanks for your reply. I agree with working on Xomba. I joined a while back but my computer ended up catching a horrible virus, even though I had Norton, and I have been away for a while. I like Xomba a lot and time seems to be all I have because finding a job has become too hard these days. I have resumes out there but, unlike you, I have no college degree at all. I sometimes regret it but I am a glass half full person and I honestly believe you do not need a degree to make it big. I have no intentions of giving up. Though I can't say ebay is good for me. I tried just about everything on ebay and just can't seem to sell anything. I will also be trying post a lot here on Xomba. Yes it is very time consuming but the right ad could possibly bring you hundreds of dollars alone. Thanks and good luck with your ventures.

Job Situation Dismal in NY State Too...

Hi, nice article! The job outlook is particularly bad in upstate NY also. It's really hard to find an office job right now. I haven't had a lot of luck finding anything, and I notice with each day that goes by, the hourly wages offered are getting much lower and number of opportunities are shrinking. I also have work experience and I'm college educated also. There have been so many business closings and downsizings that the number of available applicants are great for jobs in my area. I'd prefer to work at home, and do something creative while I'm supporting myself. I've been an online writer for a year and a half, and never made much money for my efforts. I recently joined Xomba, and soon I'll have my first hundred dollar AdSense check! I'm doing well with Xomba and enjoying it. It's the first time I've made some money for writing online. I think Xomba and AdSense might be a way for you to earn a few hundred dollars a week, eventually. And there are no upfront fees here, which is nice. It may be time consuming though. If you want to start your own business at home, it could be a big commitment of time and energy. Any venture that you expect to support you will take up your time. But the rewards are great, being an entrepreneur. I'm on Xomba a lot and I'm earning more and more, but it's fun so I do enjoy my time here. I think if you post a lot and are dedicated there's money to be made here. I'm hoping my Xomba earnings will help me pay for school as I just enrolled in class today at a local college. It's suggested that Xomba members do 3-5 Xombytes or blurbs a day, I do a lot more than that when I can, like 10 or more. Just keep working on it when you have the time and soon your AdSense will grow. It's what I do and I'm thrilled with the results. If you have something you could create or sell, perhaps you could try selling on eBay? I think it's possible to make a few hundred dollars a week on the online auctions. Or if you are crafty or creative, try selling your arts and crafts on a site like Etsy (www.etsy.com). People create all sorts of clever art and designs and sell their goods on that site. I think both of these are good ideas, because you could be home with your kids while working on them, also true of writing for Xomba. You are not alone! We are all feeling the pinch of a dismal economy, it's everywhere. I hope you have a great holiday season and best of luck to you! -Allison http://www.xomba.com/user/allison_west http://www.triond.com/users/Allison+West http://thecommacafe.blogspot.com
