Having to tell a coworker they smell bad

So you drew the short straw at the office pool and now you have to tell him that he (or it could be she) smells, what do you do?

There are nicer ways to do it and not as nice ways. You will want to maintain a relationship with the person once he repents of his stinky ways. Here is the standard list of things to do:

1. Don't use humor, he might be offended more at a funny remark than if you are straightforward.

2. Be straightforward. They don't realize they have a problem, as Fat Bastard (of Austin powers fame) says, everyone likes their own brand don't they? It may seem inconceivable that they don't know, but why would anyone go to work knowing that they have B.O.?

3. Do it in private. This is not a public problem, even though the public might be offended. It Will be much more embarrassing if you have a conversation where others will hear it. You might have to say something after work if there is no possible discrete conversation possible in the work environment.

4. Have a back up. You don't want to make it sound like everyone is talking about a person behind their back, but you want them to know that it is not just you that thinks a certain thing, others do also.

5. don't use props, it's not very funny to hand someone a can of deodorant or soap, especially in public. Others will laugh, your point will be met with anger and resentment.
