Heal Your Heel, Quick And Easy Solutions To Get You Walking
posted August 4, 2009 - 3:35pmI recently developed heel pain. I tried to find home remedies online. Here's what I learned. There is a muscle under your foot which tightens up to cause this pain. The pain is usually at is worst once you get up in the morning.
The first thing to do is stretch before getting out of bed! Touch your toes. Pull your feet back. Swirl your feet around. Lie down face first and try to get your rear in the air using your head and legs. You should try to form a triangle using the bed and your body.
Another thing is to cushion your feet. This can be done by using socks. Put on 2 or 3 layers of socks. If you feel hot, use ankle socks. Orthopedic footwear is a must for heel pain. Unfortunately, they can be very costly. A cheap alternative is to buy crocs. These are footwear created by the Croc company. They even have a medical line that is reasonable in price. They're good for wearing around the house and if you walk around outside not too far.
A final tip is not to walk too fast. The faster you walk, the more stress you will put on your heel. If you have to do exercises, do your upper body until you heel heals. Another tip is to walk backwards. This will naturally stretch your foot muscles.
Many times the cause of heel pain is wearing poor footwear on hard surfaces. These usually are flip flops and cheap sandals. If you have them, throw them out. Heel pain can last for days. Us the tips I have given to quickly eliminate heel pain right from the start.
