If you want to have great lung capacity then you must learn to reserve your lung health. In order to have good lung health you would need to work out consistently to provide overall health and lung expansion. You would stay away from cigarettes and drinking because it damages your lung greatly. If you're a professional you must stay away from smoking and drinking for good. You would also get rid of lung illness so that it doesn't progress into something worse.
Why is it important to have great lung capacity? Expanding the lungs is one of the things that professional athletes want to achieve because with high lung capacity they can have longer endurance and thus faster performance. This can help you win the race if you have a lung that works five times better than your competitor. Going out of breath is one of the concern for athletes and singers. You will slow down quiet a bit and may even lose your competition.
Improving your lungs load requires consistent training and increase in increment. You will need to increase little by little every single day. You will need to set training goal little by little every single day. Train your lungs just like how you would train your performance. It takes time to build up to a great length. You would need to stop doing things that will damage your lungs like smoking and drinking. There's no point to improve your lungs if you're going to smoke. Smoking create lung disease and even cancer in your later years. Smoking will ruin your lung cells and your air container bubbles giving you less storage capacity.
The first thing you can do is deep breathing exercises. You would sit in a yoga position and deep breathe for about 20 minutes each day. This will create more storage space in your lungs and increase in air containing volume in your lungs. You can try to practice how to sing. The more you sing the more you increase the volume of air that can sit in your lungs. Any kind of vigorous exercise will really increase your lung volume. These are running, soccer, swimming, sprinting, dancing and anything else that you may do. The focus is on fast and consistent workout every single day. Vigorous exercise is the key. You have to tax your lungs in order to make it work more. You can practice with under water swimming. You'll practice to hold in your breath and learn how to use air efficiently. The goal of the athlete is to use air efficiently instead of wasting it.
