Weightlifting, also known as weight training, is a sport equally famous in men and women. We can define this sport simply as “a game in which players try to lift the weights to increase their physical and mental growth and efficiency.” This game has become a science and playing it with correct training has enormous positive effects on the proper physical and mental growth. There are various disadvantages associated with this game too. But these are usually seen when the game is played without proper knowledge and training. Today we are going to discuss some main benefits of weight Lifting especially the benefits of weight lifting in certain diseases.
Weight Lifting and Cure of Obesity
It is a known fact that Obesity (excessive weight gain) is due to the extra fat that is deposited under the skin. This fat layer becomes thicker, if immediate care is not taken. A main benefit of weight lifting is that it burns this extra fat and makes you more energetic and smart. The other methods to loose weight like using drugs, has numerous negative effects associated. But there are no such effects in weight lifting.
Weight Lifting and Joints Problems:
Another known benefit of the weight lifting is that it gives strength to all joints of the body. More moveable joints, more healthy joints, painless joints are the key benefits of weight lifting. But special care should be taken while doing the weight lifting when you have joints problems.

The food we eat is broken down into various sub-products. The useful products are absorbed in the blood while others are excreted. This process is called the metabolism. A benefit of the weight lifting is the increased rate of body metabolism. And it is the proved medical fact that increased metabolic rate is a sign of health.

Another benefit of weight lifting is that "It relaxes the body tissues and muscles". The bones and muscles are attached to each other with tissues (connective tissues). Weight lifting increases the power of muscles and these connective tissues. As a result bones, muscles and tissues all become more powerful which is a sign of healthy and energetic life.

The studies and researches have proved the benefits of weight lifting in breast cancer patients. Breast cancer is more common in young females. Among many other reasons, increased weight gain is also a reason. Weight lifting helps in loosing weight. Also during the therapy of breast cancer, the ability to lift the heavy things is affected. Weight lifting also helps in this condition and improves the power to lift heavy things.
