Healthcare Bill Passes Vote in Congress

Healthcare Bill Passes Vote in Congress

Well, well, well. Pelosi and company decided to have a special weekend session to vote on health care. Low and behold, it passed. Is that a surprise? The subterfuge, the sneakiness of this move should resonate with everyone in this country, democrat or republican.

The vote was narrow 220-215, with a lone Republican from Louisiana crossing the line. Joseph Cao, who replaced the guy who stashed money in his freezer, crossed the aisle to vote Yes for the bill. He represents a majority democratic district. I expect he's made some enemies over the last few hours.

What does this mean for our country? Quite frankly, we're going to hell in a handbasket.

Point #1: Congress has exempted themselves from the health care issue. Things will be status quo with them. Why? Because the package sucks.

Point #2: Congress states that now 96 percent of Americans will be covered. Does the voting public realize that 83 percent of American citizens currently have some form of health care? No, because the democrats aren't providing that information. We're accepting a bill at the cost of trillions (12 zeros looks like this $1,000,000,000,000) for 13% of the people in this country. 13%!

"It provides coverage for 96 percent of Americans. It offers everyone, regardless of health or income, the peace of mind that comes from knowing they will have access to affordable health care when they need it," said Rep. John Dingell, the 83-year-old Michigan lawmaker who has introduced national health insurance in every Congress since succeeding his father in 1955.

See the misleading statement. Congress needs to tell constituents the truth. These outright lies will lead the country into total financial ruin.

Point #3: The Stupak Amendment is a a concession to get the bill to pass. Any fool would know this bill that prevents the use of federal funds for abortion will be shoved under a table and ignored during committee.

Point #4: The government will be selling insurance. Even the Congressional Budget Office has admitted that the government premiums will be higher. There's no way they won't be.

Point #5: The cost of health care will skyrocket. This is a $1.055 trillion bill that contains $700 billion in new taxes. Anyone who doesn't expect to be paying more is a fool. Nothing in this life is free.

Point 6: Pelosi and company have lied about this program being budget neutral. It only becomes "neutral" in 2015 after years of exorbitant taxes on citizens. By the way, it's important to point out that nothing is neutral spending in the government.

I could list points for the remainder of the day. The bottom line is that the passage of the health care bill isn't about insuring the uninsured. The motives aren't so altruistic. Voting on the bill late on a Saturday night is about power. Plain and simple.

Contact your congressional representative here.  Speak out now because if you don't, the American people, incluidng you, will be saddled with astronomical healthcare expenses in the future as well as the big hand of the government in our personal lives.

The bill now goes to the senate. It can be stopped. It can be round-filed if logic and reason prevail.
