The long awaited academy award for Helen Mirren , the talented british actor,known as the 'beauty queen'of the celluloid, who had exposed hereself in many a film in her long and celebrity career is no surprise. The gifted actor who was born to an English mother and to a father of russian origin, was showing great tralents in acting from her early years. The only star who could portray three British Queens in as many different films :viz.Elizabeth I in the television series Elizabeth I (2005), Elizabeth II in the film The Queen (2006), and Queen Charlotte, in The Madness of King George (1994) is really a talented actor of our time and deserved the Oscar . Commenting on her success, being the only non american to win the honour this year, she was more pragmatic in telling that, though the honour was wonderful that was not the most important thing , where as the recogntion of Spanish,Mexican and other international fims deserved appreciation.
In the latest scoop , the beauty queen has confessed that she wasn't wearing any underwear when she collected her Best Actress Oscar on Sunday the 25th February 2007.The British celebrity star who was honoured for her role in THE QEEN, was wearing a CHRISTIAN LACROIX dress on her date with the destiny. Speking on a T.V. Channel show OPRAH WINFREY, she was quoted saying "It was all made for me so I didn't have to have any underwear. It fitted me like two angels' hands. "I cried when I put it on, it is a work of art."
