Hello - President-Elect Obama Calling

posted November 10, 2008 - 3:48pm
Hello - President-Elect Obama Calling

Never in the history of the United States has a Presidential Candidate or a President-Elect or much less a sitting President asked everyday citizens for input in making policy. This idea is so new and innovative that even your congressperson has yet to embrace it. While most congresspersons reject input from the public and will go to great effort to avoid it, our President-Elect has decided to embrace it.

Fellow citizens, President-Elect Obama is asking for your input on where this great nation should be going. Yes it is true that not all your suggestion can or will be implemented. However, it is possible some of your ideas can be combined with others and a win-win policy can be forged. Now is the time to make your ideas known to the President-Elect.

Please remember that the transition staff is very busy and cannot answer every e-mail received. But we have been assured that each e-mail received will be given appropriate attention by staff.

You may share your thoughts in general, or your hopes and dreams for the future or even your election night experience.

I just wrote in to share my vision for where President-Elect Obama should lead the country, and I thought you might want to do the same:

Just go to the above website and share your thoughts with our President-Elect. I did.

Obama suggestions

@ Lee1973 -- I think Publius was saying that Obama wouldn't like *me*, since I was the one giving Obama's contact info out to Publius.

just thought I would add this

I joined the military only to have to be sent home. They worry about people with mental dissabilities being in the military. If I had only been ADD or ADHD, that would have been fine. At first everyone thought I might be bipolar. Turns out it was Aspergers, and Pitmal Siezures. I got through three months of bootcamp without bieng found out. Seeing how I had no prior medical diagnosis there was nothing to do but send me home. I went into the military to defend my country from terrorists. I just thought you would like to know that before you say we leave ourselves vulnerable to terrorists attacks and invasion issues. I'm not saying we shouldn't protect our boarders, but that we need a little more liberality. If we let the government handle everything, we won't call ourselves a democracy anymore. Instead we'll be on the threshold of socialism or communism. Be careful on how much power you let the government have or your freedom will be next. If you don't believe me read the book "Animal Farm", written by a frenchman who came here to see our country. It is what he saw would be instore for us if we didn't watch our government closely and followed blindly. How many of you have read the constitution? How many of you follow up on the laws that are made? How many of your constitutional freedoms are in tact and how many have been torn apart?

Thank you

As for liking me. Not many people like Pagans anyway. We get the short end of the stick most of the time. However, I wasn't the one writing Obama. You were. So, I don't see why whatever you wrote should bother me at all. And, as for illegal immigrants, I think everyone should just leave them alone. We have just as many illegals in Mexico. This I have seen with my own eyes. The Mexicans don't give us any grief about our illegals being in their country, so I think we should just leave everyone alone. By creating such problems with who is legal and who isn't we only show what racists or bigots we are. The only people I have trouble getting along with most of the time are men, and I am doing much better at that these days too. So if I can get over my faults I can't see why the rest of the world can't get with the program and overlook whatever bugs them about everyone else. Give it a break people.

Your link actually did

Your link actually did work...thanks. But Obama may not like you very much now. About rounding up illegal immigrants - I'll do it if nobody else wants to. *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

Obama hasn't been sworn in yet.

Obama hasn't done the swearing in yet, so you might try contacting him at this address. After all he has made it quite clear he isn't President until January after the swearing in everyone. http://obama.senate.gov/contact

Aw, Pub, you scared off the President-Elect!

He probably heard you were coming and decided to pull that Web page. Or, maybe there is a different link that works... try this one: http://change.gov/page/s/yourvision By the way, I don't think there's anything wrong with a leader asking for suggestions, or that it's a sign of weakness or indecision. Companies I've worked for did it in different ways: lunch meetings with employees and the CEO; suggestion boxes; execs with "open door" policies (usually a joke); etc. If a president got 80 million responses on a given topic it doesn't mean he's going to automatically follow that policy, but it would certainly let him know that there's a strong feeling on one side of that issue. And I'm not sure who would do the rounding up and deportation of 14 million illegal immigrants even if so many people were calling for that. The local police? The FBI? The overstretched military?

Actually...I don't believe

Actually...I don't believe these questions were answered on Election Night. And when I click the link you provided, it says: "The page you requested is not available right now." I guess he already changed his mind. *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

Why don't u ask the President-Elect

Very good questions, but it seems that the American people have already answered those questions, they were answered the night of November 4, 2008. But hey, why don't you ask the President-Elect directly? The email address is right there in my article. It is my understanding that that is what the suggestion box is for, so you can share your concerns with him.

Well, if it's anything like

Well, if it's anything like the suggestion boxes I've ever had, then we will be largely ignored. For some reason, I don't believe Barry will be paying much attention to those of us who want less government, or government that actually does its job. So how exactly does this absurdity of his work? If he received 80 million "suggestions" to seal our Southern border and kick out illegal aliens, do you honestly think he and Congress would do it? If he received 100 million "suggestions" to stop earmarks and scale down the annual federal budget, do you honestly believe he and Congress would do it? Sorry...but this whole "give us your input and we'll seriously give it attention" nonsense is an absolute joke. I've got a better idea for Barack: Try being a decisive leader that understands the principles this country was founded on. Leave the "suggestions" to the House of Representatives where it belongs. You're supposed to be a leader. Isn't that why you were elected? Since when do the People know what they want anyway. Since when have they understood anything about economics, history, foreign policy, or politics. If you haven't noticed, Barack, the average citizen isn't very bright. After all...they did vote for you. *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

No, it just means

that he's asking for people's opinionsand suggestions. Is a corporation's management unsure of what it wants to do just because it puts a suggestion box up in the lunchroom? That's pretty much what this input form is... a digital suggestion box.
