Help! Today I found out that I'm fat!

For a start how is anyone supposed to know if ideal weight is right?

For instance, I had my first fitness assessment today expecting to find out I have very low body fat and I'm a perfect weight for my height. Guess what! Didn't happen like that! (Cry!)

I found out I'm 5ft6 tall and weigh 70kg, with my body fat being 31%. Definately not good thing as the 'ideal' is set at 26% maximum!

I wear a uk size 10 clothing, so how skinny do you have to be to be classified as healthy?!

I know, I'm whingeing, but the good news is, I was able to run on the treadmill for 5 whole minutes without passing out!

I'll post an update when I'm healthy!

What IS perfect?

I agree with Mobius!! I think that as long as you eat right, get plenty of exercise, and you feel good (about yourself), then to heck with all of that weight index and body fat ratio stuff!! People get too hung up on numbers. Who's to say how much is too much? Or how little is too little? What's normal anyway? We are all individual, with different metabolical, chemical, and physiological make-ups. What's good or bad for some people isn't neccesarily what's best for everyone else. They have a looooong way to go before they can tell each individual person what they need to do or not do in order to be in optimum shape. So I wouldn't take it too seriously. it's rediculous

you should feel good about yourself and your appearance no matter what your weight is, and you certainly don't sound unhealthy to me. the key is to eat right and get enough exorcise (i can't spell), not worry about some stupid weight index.
