Henry VIII and Those Boleyn Girls (Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson)
posted February 29, 2008 - 3:08pmAnne Boleyn was one of the famous wives of England's King Henry VIII, but there was, as the title of the new movie says, "The Other Boleyn Girl." (Actually there was more than one other Boleyn girl, but let's not get picky).
Anne Boleyn (played by Natalie Portman) was eventually beheaded on charges of adultery, incest and treason, after being called all kinds of nasty names by her enemies, including harlot, concubine, and "goggle-eyed whore."
The "other" Boleyn girl is Anne's older sister Mary, who was a mistress of Henry VII before King Hank married Anne Boleyn. Mary Boleyn is played by Scarlett Johansson. The official Web site has more information.
"The Other Boleyn Girl" is based on the book of the same name by British author Philippa Gregory, and it opens Feb. 29th.
