Herbal Toothpaste, An Acquired Taste
posted August 17, 2008 - 4:22pm
While in Thailand I found a popular brand of toothpaste here called Parodontax Herbal Toothpaste which is manufactured by GlaxoSmithkline. I had never seen it before in the United States. Probably because all of our toothpaste has to have super minty freshness or
some other type of flavor.
The taste of Parodontax took some getting used to as it is sodium bicarbonate based and contains natural herbs like rathania, chamomile, echinacea, myrrh, mint and salvia. (isn't salvia the new legal herb used as a marijuana substitute that I've seen people raving about online?). The toothpaste also has Fluoride and claims to reduce bleeding gums and prevent gingivitis and periodontitis.
Once you use it a couple of times you get used to the taste of this "brownish" paste and I have found that it leaves my mouth and teeth feeling very clean and smooth. Also, although not touted as a whiteneing toothpaste, I have noticed that my teeth look a bit whiter and shinier. Another thing I like about this toothpaste is that, unlike minty flavored pastes, I can eat right after brushing away that morning-breath and enjoy the taste of my food!
I was looking to see if it was available anywhere in the US market, but have only found it online at SHOP.COM, so I guess I'll just stock up here whenever I travel back to The States.
