Here's What I Think Of Your Stupid Insults

Here's What I Think Of Your Stupid Insults

I am tired of the banter on this website for one reason: it isn't civil. People must think that just because this is the internet and no one can see you, no one can hold you personally accountable for the things you say and do on here, you can run rampant, be flagrantly mean, and insult people in place of actually responding to their intellectual ideas. All the correction of grammar, pointing out spelling mistakes, calling people mean names, overreacting to posts and replies is out of hand, and I'm tired of it.

People who are outright rude, mean, insulting, and immature kill threads and demolish discussions. I can't imagine that this is a site meant for that. I came here with the hopes of reading some interesting point of views, perhaps agreeing, perhaps disagreeing, but discussing everything intellectually. I didn't come here to be insulted because my point of view may differ from yours. I didn't come here to be defensive and wind up attacking other people because I'm so used to being attacked. I've become just as guilty as the next person because I'm so used to people attacking everything I do on this site.

There's a messaging system on here. How about if you have something very unpleasant to say (and you can't hold it in for whatever reason), you utilize the messaging system and speak to that person you're so filled with passionate anger for and keep it between the two of you? Or how about you just stop reading posts that are going to make you hurt other people? And it doesn't even come down to hurting people's feeling through unnecessary insults. I'm a perfect example of how when you insult someone enough for no reason, they start expecting insults and overreacting to things that weren't meant for them. It isn't right, and it's detracting from this site. When I first came on here, I called someone "Dude," and he wanted to kill me! Since when is Dude an insult? Frankly it isn't, we're just so sensitive on here because there are some people who are blatantly insulting and mean for no reason.

What I hope for on this site is some kind of truce. Stop insulting people just because they have a different opinion. Argue your own, but also don't expect anyone to change their opinion, no matter how hard you argue your point. There is NO PLACE for meanness, insults, name-calling, or anything of the sort here. We're all adults, and if we're not, we should strive to be mature and respectful of one another.

And if you insist on insulting me or cutting down my argument, from now on, I'm ignoring you, because I know you're no longer worth it.

DUDES!!!

LadyPeninhand "Dude" must never be retired!! It's too appropriate, in far too many situations, to be retired! "Your Dude-ness" would be much better than "Duderino", as "Duderino" has an almost ethnic connotation....like "Vinny Barberino." OH! And just so you don't forget us girls..."Dude-ette" will suit me fine, thank you...

The Dude Abides

I've never viewed the word "dude" the same way after seeing The Big Lebowski years ago. I've always liked the word and would hate to see it retired. But if it is put to pasture, maybe "Your Dudeness" or "Duderino" could be used instead? ;-)

Sorry Dudes (especially Publius)

I'll retire the word. :)

Throwing down the Gauntlet

You must never call a perfect stranger "Dude." This must never happen. Never. (Ever.)

Boo Yah!

I take the honor of putting this post at the top of the Highest Rated. I was vote number 5, the minimum to be on the board. The glory is all mine!!! You are good writer and deserve it. Reminds me of my Soapbox post...Hmmmmm...but I think yours was before mine. Who cares. Good Job!

here is an idea

There is always the nice approach which I find works very well in many duels on line. When someone attacks me in a very outright insulting manner, I will agree with them and tell them something like, "thanks for stopping by, come again" or " I love you too" or and this one almost always makes them leave and never return, " come here and give me a kiss, don't fight it , I can tell you want me" bahahaha 'POOF' they are GONE! lol

awwwwwwwww

I would much rather rant to you Mark lol and that is a great idea - I think I will go to my local liquor store and cuss the dude out for not having colt 45 lol! Imma gonna stalk you now Mark. lol

And the Score Is?

TEN! I GIVE THIS A TEN! Fact is the internet is filled with cowards in fact it attracts them.Cowards or not, if a person demonstrates clearly rude disruptive, non productive behavior that takes away from the other members on this site or any site such as this, I would hope that the administrators would have the authority to drop kick them. There are rules for a reason and because the internet is what it is and accountability can be a little tricky, I see that rules are needed even more so because of this factor. There is always someone that has to take advantage of the situation.

dude

Dude, can't we all just get along? For those locked in bouts of anger that give them the right to light into folks who come to expouse on subjects-CHILL! I go in the liquor store to buy beer and don't rail on the guy for carrying malt liquor or MD20/20 or expensive champagne. Just because it's not my taste doesn't give me the right to tell him/her what to carry. And if your opinion is so dang important to you. Go take a long walk on a short pier or hey, here's a quarter, call somebody who cares. This is a place of expression. So folks can see writing and learn to hone their skill and maybe make two dollars and 10 cents from Google (wow I'm gonna be...a centaire! one day)... Chill, drink some mad dog and go rant to your local bum, at least he'll drink with you while you rant. mark "It's easy to forget what's important—so don't." - Mr. Mom
