A Hint of Inspiration to Change Xomba for the Better
posted December 6, 2008 - 10:40pmHere's a letter I wrote to the Xomba admin.:
After reading this Xomblurb and the article it points to, I think you might want to change the payment plan.
I say 'might' because ... I don't claim to know ... stuff ... :-)
But I think of the Oklahoma Gazette, a free newspaper in OKC (www.okgazette.com). You might pay us like they pay their writers ... more like 'per word up to a certain monthly quota (& every word above quota for that month is done for free)' than 'per click'.... and of course 'bonuses' for highly-popular posts and for inviting active members etc.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Brother Mythy
- The way I see it (i.e. my best guess) is that Oklahoma Gazette writers either
- are in the office or on-assignment all day and get paid a salary (which the owners and/or editors wisely apportion as only their wisdom can discern) or
- get paid like I suggested we should—maybe not 'per word,' but more like 'per page' or 'per story' or 'per liter-of-bloody-swea-'- ... or
- both, like a salary with per-something bonuses, or
- neither ... but Perish the Thought! that Oklahoma City's wise word-wizards would let the wealth of the writings pass by without some monetary-acknowledgment! How dare me! thinking such unthinkable things ...
If we get a normal salary for being here (even if it's not up to the 'average C.o.L.'), there wouldn't be any possibility for any of us to feel the 'need' for "clickfraud" (neither to do it ourselves nor to encourage others to do it for us).
Sound like a plan? (I'm starting to end my posts Jewish like that, aren't I?)
