Historical Find! - Photos of he USS Grunion

The USS Grunion submarine was sunk during World War II with 70 men on board. It's been missing ever since and now it was allegedly found this week many leagues under the sea in Alaska.

Seventy brave sailors entered the sub when it launched originally from Groton, CT. The Grunion set sail again from Hawaii (aloha!) in June 1942 to run a patrol between the Aleutian Islands and Japan. In July 1942, the submarine was reassigned to Kiska Island.

The Grunion had a final transmission July 30 1942. That was the last thing we heard from the submarine. The ship was officially reported lost somewhere in the Pacific after that.

John Abel is a searcher, and yesterday he stated this:
"...we have photographic documentation showing prop guard of Grunion style..."
