History of Cocoa

The cocoa tree (proper name Theobroma Cacao) originated in South America and Mexico, and one of the first Europeans to discover the tree was Columbus. It was Hernando Cortez, however, who first brought the beans to Europe where they were ground down and mixed with hot water to produce a drink.
