Hoboken Fire Ravages Bar, Apartment Building
posted January 7, 2008 - 11:42amAn early-morning fire in Hoboken, New Jersey has ravaged the ground-floor bar and several floors of apartments above the bar.
It is believed that the Hoboken fire began sometime around 1 a.m. in the bar on the first floor, McSwiggin's, at Bloomfield and First Streets. Part of the building's interior collapsed and firefighters were unable to access the building through the internal stairways, according to a report on CBS Channel 2 news in New York City.
No injuries were reported in the fire so far, but several firefighters have been treated inhaling smoke. The fire in Hoboken went to three alarms.
Hoboken is a city of about one square mile on the Hudson River, directly across from Manhattan.
