Holiday cooking guide for the diabetics
posted April 18, 2009 - 11:02pmDiabetes is not your favorite thing when it comes to the holiday. Holiday is a time for fun and good food but the diabetics have to watch it more than anyone else. You can go into a ketoacidosis if you overdo it on the foods. You can still eat really
great foods you just have to keep away
from all the sugary ingredients. You should know by now all of the sugary ingredients. You should not buy them or have them available in your home because you're more likely to use it if it's there.
The ingredients that you should not use are rice, sugar, artificial sugar, starch, noodles, starbucks drinks, shakes, coffee, bread, cookies, carbs of any kinds, banana, cakes, sweets, ice cream, honey, sweet juice, and anything that contain sugar. Your goal is to stay away from sugar. Sugar will increase your glucose level. You already know this fact. If you're going to eat just be sure to examine if it's high in glucose by tasting it. Most holiday foods have very high sugar content and you should watch out for it. You can use vegetables and meat of most kinds because they don't have a high sugary content. You can drink water, tea because they don't have a high sugary content. You should also check your glucose in the morning after the previous day to make sure that your glucose level is not too high. When cooking, avoid putting too much sugar in for taste. Sugar is not your friend. You should not buy a lot of cakes and have it sitting around because you'll be tempted.
