Hollywood Directors Reach Agreement with Studios; Writers Far Behind?

The guilds representing Hollywood directors reached a tentative agreement with the studios today for a new contract. This agreement has many hopeful the end to the writer's strike will happen sooner than later. The Writer's Strike already made a shambles of last weekend's Golden Globes awards and threatens the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony, not to mention the millions of dollars lost and which will be lost on both sides of the strike.

Even if the studios reach an agreement with the Writer's Guild of America to end this strike, their contract with the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is up this coming June.
