Hollywood East of 80s

Back to history, Hollywood East has started in Hong Kong somewhere in early 80s. Some music historians claim it has started in 1983.

Most of the time, they play songs from European dance labels like ZYX, Discomagic, Max music, Blanco Y Negro,Time Records, Hansa, Intercord, and many more. At that time, the sole distributor of dance label is Valentine Music Production (VMP) International, based in Singapore with several branches in Hong Kong and in my country Malaysia, known as Valentine Sound Productions (VSP).

The root of this dance music is from mainland Europe like Spain, Germany, Italy, Swiss, Greece, Holland, etc. Besides Europe, during that time this music has great influence in North America such as USA & Canada but with a small community.

There are many terms to describe it such as Eurobeat, Eurodisco, Italo Disco, Eurodance, High NRg, Synthesizer Dance, 80s new-wave, etc.
