Home Remedy For Insomnia

You toss and you turn, checking the clock every 15 minutes, hoping to fall asleep before it's time to get up. That happens to every one occasionally, but when those sleepless nights start happening too often, try a home remedy for your insomnia..
The first step of the home remedy for insomnia is to cut out all caffeine after 2pm. Caffeine will stay in the body for hours after being consumed. Cut out coffee, tea (unless decaffeinated) energy drinks and chocolate after 2pm.
Limit your beverages late in the evenings so once you do go to sleep, you won't be awakened with the need to go to the bathroom.
Don't exercise less than 4 hours before going to bed. Your body prepares for sleep by lowering the body temperature, exercise raises the body temperature, preparing it for activity.
A snack eaten just before going to bed that contains tryptophan, like turkey, cheese, milk, tuna or peanuts, will help you fall asleep. Tryptophan is an amino acid that makes you sleepy.
Have a regular sleep/wake schedule and stick to it, even on weekends.
When you find yourself suffering from a night of insomnia, don't fight it by staying in bed and trying to will yourself to go to sleep. Get out of bed and do something that usually makes you sleepy, like reading.
