Home security surveillance is the art of surveilling your home with a system of cameras that you can monitor to see just what is occurring in and around your home.

But you don't have to get all sophisticated if you don't want to.  You don't need to spend thousands of dollars on your home security or camera system.  It may only take a few hundred.  For instance, you can find cheap video cams for your computer that you may be able to use as "surveillance" equipment to see who is at the door.  I know someone who did this quite effectively.

You can also buy "dummy" fake cameras that you can install outside of your home to make it look like you have a full on surveillance system designed to catch people in the act.  While you may have one camera, a thief may think you have several more.

Perhaps the cheapest way to improve your home security is by installing motion detecting lighting.  Everyone knows that thieves do not want to be seen or heard.  Lighting that switches on automatically may encourage them to go to a house that is not yours.  This is a good thing.
