Honda’s New GPS Navigation System Warns Drivers of High Crime Areas
posted April 28, 2008 - 11:20amIn Japan Honda has developed a crime rate detection system in their GPS that will scan through the police database and warn drivers if they are driving through a high crime area.
This on-board navigation system will be installed on the new Honda cars and will warn drivers if they are entering a high risk crime area where cars have been stolen, broken into or damaged.
Honda has no plans to introduce this crime rate detection system in the U.S.
I don’t know what the car crime rate is in Japan but this is something we really need in the US. The only problem of deploying this in the U.S. is that Honda would have to work with all the Law Enforcement Agencies in the U.S. to make this happen. I can see this as the biggest stumbling block.
