I know you rushed things, but here ya go.

I wonder, really, if the process of fruited plant reproduction is what you mean? Fruited plants are fairly new in terms of age, and the strategy for reproduction and distribution is pretty sophisticated. Or is it that Issac Newton was chicken little? Or is this really non-sense?

Does not mean science is a scary thing.

Science is the Latin word for "knowledge." Some knowledge, once you learn it is possibly scary. For example, without remediation, without reducing the proportion of CO2 in the atmosphere, the Earth's surface temperature will continue to rise until the entire Earth weather system reaches a new equilibrium. The new equilibrium (balance) is caused by of the burning of Fossil Carbon.

(Fossil Carbon includes Oil, Coal, Peat, Oil Shale, Tar Sands, Natural Gas (~87% methane, CH4), , anything you drill for or un-bury and burn)

We have added at least 178 billion tons of pure carbon C to the atmosphere since about the middle 1700's. When combined with the Oxygen in the air (usable Oxygen is what the plants have added to the air over hundreds of millions of years) the total weight of the CO2 in the air that we humans have added is about 650 billion tons of CO2 by burning the fossil fuels. And growing. A certain amount of long-lived CO2 is necessary to keep all of us and much life from freezing. That amount is at least 280 ppmv (parts per million by volume) to 300 ppmv and any more is what we have added to the air.

Weather is more than air and water vapor, ice/snow and liquid water/ raindrops, since the air is only a part of the climate system which is driven by the Sun (the Egyptians, some of the Alexandria bunch, worshiped the Sun, Ra, or at least recognized the Sun as the provider of the energy of life.

We now know there are many paths life can exploit. Many pathways use the earth's internal heat as longlived species of radioactive elements made in Supernova very near the time the Sun and Earth formed -- decay and provide warmth to those forms of life never seeing sunlight. But for weather, the power source is the sun.

In addition to the sun, and air, the ocean, and land all play their part in the balance of climate. James lovelock used the Gaia allegory to get people to think ecologically -- and to recognize that Earth is a life-dominated world, where, like evolving systems, like cooking the eggs just right, living things engineered and sustained climate within the range that much of the profuseness of life could tolerate.

Anthropogenic Global Warming is man-caused Global Warming, euphemistically called "Climate Change." Imagine, if you have a house and yard, that all of your business neighbors are dumping their trash into your yard. That is what this is about, and the climate change denialists are supporting businesses that dump CO2 into the air. Big Coal doesn't want to sequester and remove from the environment -- the CO2 and really nasty other trash Coal contains; like lead mercury sulfur, etc. and instead they want to release the CO2 into the air.

The air is our commons. Government Water supplies, like Colorado Springs Water supply is something you pay for -- and its health and safe purity, while manufacturers want to dump the stuff their dirty process water on the ground and it may leak into the water supply and it isn't healthy.

The analogy to filling the air with CO2 is exactly the same as a safe water supply. EPA protected big businesses from we the people long enough to give the Big Business polluters time fix their pollution problems. This administration you want to defend has kept EPA from addressing the CO2 problem.

I drive many more vehicles probably than you do. I'm as trapped as you into the burning of fossil carbon as everyone. But that can change. It must change. And to survive it will change. Or most of the big life on the planet will die.

Unfortunately many lives will be lost to the short term profits of a few, The marketers you work for for example, probably will promote anything for a buck. Even if they know it is wrong.

The inevitable will happen.

That is not even profound. But what is "inevitable," when you have a choice. We might in a very few years be able to defend against the 'inevitable' asteroidal impact. (Long period Comets are much more difficult to defense -- mainly because the warning time may not be long enough.) The inevitability is like predetermination? Gee, what is this "freewill" crock?

When General Washington crossed the Delaware it was choked with ice. This does not happen anymore. It stopped doing that around 1865. What caused that warm up? What caused it to freeze in the first place to start that mini ice age that lasted for five hundred years. Greenland used to be green. And warm climate. Maybe you should invest in land in Greenland. Carbon emisions.

Carl Johnson http://mb-soft.com/public3/global.html would suggest that the stoppage of the ice jams by the warming of the weather in the 1860's had its roots in the CO2 placed in the air by the industrial revolution, beginning at least in the 1720's, where Europe was really into the using of coal, all the wood charcoal they could burn and starting to really cook in the placing of CO2 into the air in quantity via much coal and coke. Peat was used too. These folks were getting "modern."

Many people are trying to completely understand the little ice age, the cooling. I suggest you dig it up and post a blog about just the little ice age. Some of these guys, former collegues, would take 500 years as a little excessive for the time length -- but dig into it. I have confidence that most of the reasons for the little ice will be forthcoming in a decade or less.

Greenland? Gee whiz, and you are in Marketing? You do not sail west and run into this huge, tall cap of Ice, sail along it to find some soil -- and then go home and call it "Land of Thick Ice" No. You describe it as a place of greenery and life, a Greenland, and take a colony of people and some cows and try to start a settlement. I do not know if the Eskimo tribes and groups who knew how to live on the edge, did not also play a part in the Norse Greenland extinction; because, the weather was enough of a factor, itself. Imagine, not enough trees to build a boat to sail away from the place when the plants froze earlier and earlier. By the way there are many students of the settlement, and there is a lot to learn on the web about them from others who have investigated the remnants of the Norse Community and Colony on the coast of Greenland.

Just never seems to amaze me how some want to prove how smart they are in there own lifetime. I believe it is because life is so short. Be truthfull. Tell the world the human race has a great sense of self righteousness that has to be satisfied. What better way to do this than I have to fix the earth. Does not mean a good thing is bad.

1. Being smart later, after your life is gone, makes no sense. You want to use your smarts while alive.

2. Life is short. It is amazing how much we as a species have learned and carried forward. Even to live as long as a sequoia gigantia, or a bristle-cone pine, would not be enough! Do you remember Samuel Jackson's role in Pulp Fiction, and the self-righteous? Find out, if it takes the rest of your life.

3. We have to fix the planet. You or I can't do much to fix things except to write about it and live as green as possible.

4. You bring up good (God) thing and bad. I count destruction of the planet's balanced climate system as a bad thing, as "evil" as one can get and as naive too. Collectively and individually we have a choice.

Even at others expense. I know I know. You are absolutely correct the sky is falling... or is the apple just ripe?

An auctioneer I once knew practiced his patter selling fence posts on his way to school.

Surely, you go to auctions. If not, you should, since it is the world beyond the consumer and the stock market, where values would surprise you. The Stock Market, the Big Banks trade your things around and it affects the price of your house, the average equipment or household auction or business auction is where the recycling or extended life of "value added goods" occurs.

So, selling fense posts going to school seemed like a meaningless exercise since the posts were set in the ground, and the ones he practiced selling, no buyers bid on, so what he was "selling" appeared to his siblings as nothing. His task was to become articulate and understandable while he improved his "patter." He went to school, you know readin' 'ritin' 'rithmatic and was able to put that education to use in his auction business. Later, this fellow was able to make several million dollars skimming a few bucks while providing a sales service with a good patter. This kind of story has been acted out many times.

I mention it for your instance -- since it is the point of getting an education, to survive, to learn how to survive. Modern education needs to teach kids "how" to learn. It is really a struggle to teach a boneheaded adult anything. I know about boneheads. If they are willing to learn, suspend "judgment" like when reading a book -- until they are finished, there is a chance of them learning something.
