How To Care For Your Cuticles
posted January 8, 2009 - 7:33pmWe don't give our cuticles a second thought, until one cracks and hangs on out clothing or other object. That doesn't feel so good, and can even cause bleeding or infection, that really wouldn't feel good.
The word cuticle mean 'little skin' and refers to that tiny rim of
transparent tissue that peaks out from underneath your skin, covering part of your nails. The cuticle is there for a reason, it serves as a barrier to protect nails from infection.
Cutting or clipping away the cuticle can lead to bleeding, swelling and even infection. Never cut your cuticles.
Here's the proper ways to care for your cuticles, to keep the soft and problem free.
Soak your cuticles in warm soapy water for a few minutes. This will prevent the cuticle from drying and cracking.
After a soaking (or bathing) gently push the cuticles back with a washcloth or orange stick wrapped in gauze.
Follow with a thin layer of Vaseline to keep cuticles soft and healthy.
Soft, pliable cuticle won't crack and rip. They will be healthy and help maintain the health of your nails. Anytime you use hand moisturizer, make sure to rub it into your cuticles.
