How To Decide Between Real and Laminate Floors

For nearly any room in your home, there is nothing like a wood floor.  Its distinctive beauty can be the perfect highlight to any traditional or modern décor.  If your home improvement plans include new flooring, you might like to know what a laminate floor has to offer.

If you have ever had a real wood floor in your home, you know how beautiful this kind of flooring can be.  You may also know about the drawbacks real wood floors often produce.  No matter what particular type of wood you have had, you may recall that it is quite susceptible to damage.  It does not take much to scratch and scar a real wood floor, and this kind of damage is difficult if not impossible to repair.

Laminate floors will give your room the attractive appearance of wood, without the problems.  They are much more resistant to damage, so they will stay in nicer condition for a longer period of time.  You will not have to cover scratches with rugs, or attempt to sand your laminate floor to repair damage.

Although real wood floors can easily be faded by too much exposure to the sun, this will not occur if you choose a laminate floor instead.  You can enjoy the warm sunlight coming into your room without worrying that it may harm your flooring.

While excessive moisture can be harmful to any type of flooring, laminate floors are more resistant to moisture than real wood floors.  They are less likely to be damaged from everyday use, as long as you exercise sensible precautions.  Laminate floors are not made to withstand extremely heavy use.

A wood floor requires considerable care in order to stay in good condition.  If you choose a laminate floor, there will be less work for you.  As a laminate floor does not need to be waxed, you can spend more time enjoying your room instead of cleaning it.  Your new floor will remain bright and lovely with very little effort.

When you are thinking about home improvement, making a change to your floors is a good part of the plan.  When you select the type of flooring that best suits your personal preferences and lifestyle, you will enjoy and appreciate it even more.
