How Did You First Discover Xomba?

How Did You First Discover Xomba?

I initially thought this was going to sound like yet another newbie question that crops up every couple of months, but looking through the Xomba category couldn't find anything similar posted recently... so here goes.

I actually came across Xomba by accident through a search engine - something no doubt the owners will be pleased about as it was probably on the first page. Can't remember what I was looking for, but guess I found something else instead. Don't recall having seen it advertised anywhere. Not even on those really useful Make Money Writing Online blogs and websites which, save for a very small number, tend to be largely useless.

So, how did you find your way here? A search engine query, or clicking on a referral link in a forum, or seeing some advertising?

I guess this is also data the webmasters have at their fingertips and will gladly share with us all!

Adsense and Yellow Text Brought Me To Xomba

A friend mentioned that you could make money with Adsense. In researching Adsense, I googled the word and out popped an article about Adsense on Xomba. I still had no clue what Adsense was or how to make money with adsense but I saw the yellow highlighted text that said that the author was making money writing the article. Out of curiosity I clicked on it, signed up a little later after thinking about it some and here I am. So the color yellow works. And the name of course. Xomba was such a unique and unusual name that it stuck in my memory.

Pink Taxis Lead You to Xomba

Thanks to everyone so far. Keep them coming in, especially the surreal vignettes! Ran a little experiment with Google. Searching "make money writing" yields nothing related to Xomba on first page. Searching "paid to write" yields the US job site already mentioned at number 2 spot with a link to Xomba. (I know, comparing Google searches is becoming more and more meaningless because of the geo-targeting.) Love the pink taxis! Xomba

I was once out strolling one very hot summer's day When I thought I'd lay myself down to rest in a big field of tall grass. I lay there in the sun and felt it caressing my face. As I fell asleep and dreamed, I dreamed I was in a Hollywood movie, And that I was the star of the movie. This really blew my mind, The fact that me, an overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome, Should be the star of a Hollywood movie - Hmmmm But there I was - Mmmmm I was taken to a place, the hall of the mountain kings. I stood high upon a mountain top, naked to the world, In front of every kind of girl. There was long ones, tall ones, short ones, Brown ones, black ones, round ones, big ones, crazy ones. Out of the middle, came a lady. She whispered in my ear something crazy, She said; Xomba That is the strange, but very true story of how I came to be at Xomba (with a little help from Eric Burdon and War.) I rode a Pink Taxi into Xomba and never left...

In 1988, my late-partner and I founded Stateline Transportation (Lake Tahoe, NV and So. Lake Tahoe, CA). We were the first owner/operator taxi cab company in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Our first cabs were pink, and operated under the name Pink Taxi Company. In 1993, after relocating to Washington State, we assumed the name Yellow Cab Company, and to protect the Pink Taxi name we formed a graphics company called Pink Taxi Graphics - XCM (Xxysis Cyber Mach), which means Internet at the speed of "X." In 2002, the name was upgraded to Pink Taxi Communications - XCM. The "X" in our name was the catalyst to get to Xomba. Weird, huh? I, on occasion, track Pink Taxis across the Internet, as, well, as XCM. It's all part of protection of our trademark, and copyrights. In September 2007, I was doing some tracking regarding XCM. And, when I do this, the results I usually get are x-rated sites (X just generates this stuff), an occasional real hit, and then stuff just out-and-out not related. It was during one of my Google searches that Xomba came up in a search. I still remember looking at it, and, thinking, "should I check this out or not? I actually skipped it, but, went back about 20 minutes later - because its name stuck in my mind, as, I looked through other searches. So, it was Pink Taxi which put me on the Xomba doorstep. It's the only site I write for, and the first one, which displayed worthwhile content from real people, and a real goal (Google). And, I've been wandering the Internet since 1994, before the world arrived, in the days before the flashy lights, vibrating ads, and streaming video and audio. In 1994, text was the Internet. I have my Adsense account, and its just whoopy-doo, but, I write here not because of Google. If it were just Google I would have never stayed. It's the Administration of Xomba, but, most, its the clear-thinkers I have had such great interactions with, and, the twisted ones too. This is why I LOVE XOMBA! __________________ It does matter what you believe, but, what you believe does not matter if you do not act upon your beliefs. you can not vote on the truth --Pope John Paul II, 1995

Looks like the pattern

Looks like the pattern continues. I googled paid to write, write for money or something along those lines. First I just posted a few of my own writings, came back about 6 months later and did some recent news stuff. Never looked back.

Searching

A long long time ago in a place far far away I ran a google for writing sites that paid. Xomba was the first or second one I landed on and other than a brief exile to AC I've pretty much been here ever since - I love it!
