How Do You Leave Footprints In Wood?
posted September 28, 2009 - 7:44am

You’d be forgiven for thinking that these prints are either photo-shopped or the product of an artist adept at working with wood but I can guarantee that they’re not.
So, how do you leave
footprints in wood?
According to a 70 year old Buddhist monk in Tongren, China, you pray in the same place for 20 years.
The monk, Hua Chi, says that he's been praying for up to 3000 times a day for the past twenty years in the same spot on a wooden floor. The result is a set of his footprints (up to 1.2 inches deep in places) carved into the wood.
That's dedication for you.
“Every day I come here and every day I look at the piece of wood, and it has inspired me to continue to make the footprints myself,” says Genden Darji, a younger monk that lives in the same monastery.
Although now he is 70 years old, Hau Chi has dramatically reduced his amount of praying…..to 1000 times a day…
