How to eat healthy if you have diabetes

Why you have diabetes

You should follow your diet carefully because diabetes is a life threatening disease. It could be if you have a ketoacidosis.

You have diabetes because you eat a high diet of sugar or glucose

It could be from genetics
If you watch your diet, you can get better
Diabetes is life threatening if you don’t seek treatment
What you need to do

Lower your sugar intake
Take your medication on time and exactly as prescribed
Exercise at your own pace
Check with the doctor regularly
Eat non-sugary food

Protein
White meat
Fish
Chicken
Light vegetables
Some sour fruits
Water
Tea
Green tea helps with diabetes

Food to avoid

Sugary food
Any sweet food
No cakes, chocolates, candy bars, junk food, coffee, ice cream
All of these contains tons of sugar which can make you increase in sugar level
Some fruits like banana and apple have a lot of glucose in them
Vegetables have a lot of glucose too
Vegetables got their glucose from the sun
Check your glucose level daily
You should get out your stick and check it daily after a long night of not eating
Usually before breakfast can be accurate
If you eat and check your level, it will be inaccurate
You have to wait at least five hours after you eat to check for a close to accurate level
It’s even better after fasting and exercising, you will see your real value

Get to your doctor

If you see an abnormal value, get to your doctor
If you have an episode of ketoacidosis, get to the emergency room.
Someone in your home should be watching out for you
Touch your legs daily to see if you loss sensation, report to doctor
