How to get free HD channels on your tv without a cable box
posted March 4, 2009 - 6:01pmIf you have bought a new t.v. in the last few years then you probably have free hd channels lucking unknown. You would be surprised how many free hd channels you can get without even having to hook up your cable box or even not having a cable box at all.
If you have bought a new t.v. in the last few years then your t.v. has what is called a Qam Tuner. Samsung, panasonic, sony, and a lot of other major t.v. producers have built in Qam tuners. A qam tuner will let you search through channels. What the qam tuner does is unscramble the signal just like a cable box.
Most of the time you can get all of the channels, plus channels you don't even get yet. I lately go a Samsung DLP t.v and i found over 200 channels (20 of them are HD), by using the qam tuner.
Lets start on how to use this qam tuner to get your free hd channels. First off you need to unhook your cable box and connect the cable strait from the t.v. to the wall.
Next all you have to do is turn on your t.v. and flip through the channels to find your free hd channels. I found ESPN HD on channel 104-1.
Most of the time, HD channels will be above the 100s. Your normal channels should all be almost the same 1-99. I also found HBO HD and regular showtime. This qam tuner could save you a lot of money and give you a lot more channels.
So before you decide to upgrade you cable package just to get some specific channels in HD, check and see if your t.v. is equipped with a qam tuner to get all of those HD channels for free.
