How I Enjoy a Summer’s Morning
posted July 9, 2008 - 7:44pmFor me there is nothing like a summer morning breeze. I love beginning warm summer mornings, sipping my freshly brewed coffee, reflecting on the beauty around me, and enjoying the sounds of my neighborhood.
First, brew some coffee. If you are not a coffee drinker, make yourself a special blend of tea. Whatever it is you like; make it very special and refreshing for you.
Place a chair or blanket outside in your favorite spot. Set it up nice and comfortable. Place your coffee or tea next to your chair or blanket.
Hook up and turn on a sprinkler, even if your lawn does not need watering. Grab your favorite beverage, sit down, and close your eyes. Breathe deeply and enjoy. No matter what the night before left you with, or what the day ahead will bring, you are now in this moment alone. Smile to yourself and breathe deeply again. Listen closely to the sprinkler. Feel the mist of the water on your skin.
I always place my face, with eyes shut, towards the sun. I never stay out long enough for it to be damaging for my skin. The warmth and shine of the morning sun is absolutely renewing. I love the natural vitamins my body soaks up.
If you do not have a sprinkler, or that is not your thing, you may want to listen to the sounds of nature around you. Even in town, you can sometimes hear the songs of birds. How sweet the songs and chirping can be on a summer’s morning. Let the flow of the tweets and twitters flood your thoughts. Breathe and enjoy.
What if you live in a big city? You may not be able to enjoy nature, but you can enjoy your local sounds. Do not allow the sounds of the city to stress you. You can begin to program yourself to become relaxed with your local sounds.
Sit on your balcony, patio, or rooftop. Listen to the sounds at hand. Do you hear machinery, street shops opening, or children playing? Soak it in, smile and breathe deeply. Of course, the deep breathing outdoors applies only to clear and fresh days.
Sit back, take a load off, and say to yourself, “Oh, this is the life.” Smile and give a word of thanks for what you have.
